Parents as Learners - A New Paradigm in Parent Education
More and more, school leaders and teachers in Hong Kong are recognizing the powerful influence of parents on the many aspects of the students’ development. For the educators of today, the challenges met in the work of forming the pupils seems to be often linked to their upbringing at home. It is not infrequent that educators ponder the need to aid parents in their fulfillment of their roles as primary educators of their children. Can we as educators help the parents of our students become better parents?
This seminar aims to bring together education professionals to reflect on the issue of parent education. The event will be in two parts. The first part consists of a presentation of the arguments for the ‘parents as learners’ paradigm and for in-school parent education. This is followed by experience sharing of current practices in parent education in schools in Hong Kong by a parent education practitioner in a secondary school and a school principal of a primary school and kindergarten.

「針情線韻：中國少數民族服飾與背帶」展覽
香港大學美術博物館十分榮幸能展出李美賢庋藏的中國傳統服飾、銀飾及背帶，無論是色彩之豐富、技藝之精湛，風格之獨特，展品均體現出中國少數民族傳承至今於服飾工藝的巧奪天工。展覽日期由2013年12月15日至2014年2月9日於香港大學美術博物館徐展堂樓一樓展出。
展覽配以精美圖錄。而為慶祝本館六十週年及香港大學博物館學會二十五週年紀念，展覽與圖錄均由香港大學博物館學會慷慨贊助。
苗、侗、水、壯這些源自貴州、雲南和廣西等中國西南省的少數民族，其服裝和背帶均繡以色彩絢爛、針工細膩的刺繡，有時甚至附以銀飾點綴，反映出當地悠久而別具特色的傳統文化。由於部份少數民族缺乏文字記錄，其織品展示的象徵涵義和色彩寓意，形成一種視覺語言，使之成為人類文化和文物遺產發展至今的重要基礎。
展覽適逢香港大學博物館學會會員日開幕〈2013年12月14日下午3時30分至6時〉，部份展品將以時裝表演的形式進行展示。

Workshop on Simulation and Modeling of Emerging Electronics (SMEE) 2013
Overview:
The theme of SMEE-2013 is the industrial and the academic perspectives on computational electronics for emerging systems, materials and devices. The three day event will also include a joint symposium with the London Center for Nanotechnology of UK. The format of the Workshop will consist of 90 minute extended keynote presentations by several prominent and internationally renowned scientists and researchers from USA, England and China. In addition, there will be several 45 minute review presentations from the senior researchers affiliated with the Area of Excellence (AoE) initiative on ‘Theory, Modeling and Simulation of Emerging Electronics’ in Hong Kong. There will be no contributed talks for this year.

意大利國寶級文藝復興盛期不朽藝術名畫
波提切利《維納斯》－ 意大利文藝復興盛期大師作品首度來港展出
意大利駐香港及澳門總領事館、香港意大利領事館文化處及香港大學美術博物館將攜手呈獻意大利國寶級藝術傑作 － 佛羅倫斯畫派名家桑德羅‧波提切利（Sandro Botticelli, 1445 - 1510）之力作《維納斯》（約1482 年），將於10 月18 日至12 月15 日假香港大學美術博物館展出。
