The University of Hong Kong Libraries (HKUIL) will host the "Reunification. Carving. Dreams" exhibition from 17 June to 12 July. The exhibition features over 50 artworks by Hong Kong sculptor Yo Shing (Mr Cheung Sing Hung). Among the exhibits are the acclaimed artist’s two iconic sculptures "Reunification" and "Perseverance".

An opening ceremony for the exhibition will be held on June 17 (Monday). Yo Shing will share insights into his art and inspirations with the media after the ceremony.

Yo Shing's mastery in calligraphy, painting, ceramics, bamboo, and wood seal carving has garnered him widespread recognition. His notable contributions include large-scale projects such as plaques for the "Wisdom Path" and "Tsz Shan Monastery" on Lantau Island. Additionally, his sculptures "Reunification" and "Perseverance" were showcased in the Eleventh and Twelfth National Art Exhibitions.

To celebrate and commemorate the National Day and the handover, Yo Shing creates large-scale sculptures or ceramic artworks reflecting Hong Kong's development at that time. This year marks the 75th anniversary of the National Day, the 27th anniversary of the Hong Kong handover, and the 111th anniversary of the University of Hong Kong's library. To honor these milestones, Yo Shing's creations from the past 40 years, including those celebrating National Day and the handover, will be displayed in the University of Hong Kong's main library.
